Mechanism of loess planar erosion and numerical simulation based on CFD–DEM coupling model

Planar erosion is an important mode of soil erosion, which occurs in the process loess slope gully and cave erosion. It great significance to understand characteristics mechanism planar reveal prevention treatment water loss. In this paper, a series tests have been carried out through self-developed large-scale scour instrument. The stage subsurface under different conditions analyzed summarized, internal characteristic stages has revealed. Furthermore, based on special "core (powder) + coat" microstructure loess, numerical model inter particle linkage was established characterize anti-erosion properties. simulation results paper are good agreement with main physical all show that at scale large test blocks can be divided into three stages: uniform stage, micro collapse failure stage. This indicates fluid–solid coupling method CFD–DEM proposed high accuracy application potential research provides new feasible idea for study hydraulic loss control Loess Plateau, worthy further promotion.
